The ‘Quick Update’ That Ate Thursday

If a meeting has no agenda and starts with ‘quick update,’ it will consume the day like a black hole. We went in for 15 minutes, came out 2 hours later with three ‘parking lots’ and zero decisions. I started asking for a written goal and who’s accountable before I accept. Magically, 60% of invites evaporated. Gravity works both ways.
